QR’s COVID COMEBACK

by

The 90’s gave us Nirvana, the Discman, Doc Martins, the Playstation… so it’s safe to say I’m a fan of the 90’s.

It also gave us the humble QR code.

Adoption was limited at first as smartphones needed a separate app to read them, but thanks to software updates (QR readers are now a default feature in most mobile cameras) and a pesky pandemic the little squares are making a comeback.

Go contactless to point and pay, view a menu, scan and save a contact, connect to wifi, send an email or SMS, or download an app.

What’s next?  QR in AR (Augmented Reality).  Step into ‘Virtual Stores’ where virtual products display a QR code that takes you to checkout or another virtual destination.

WhatsApp is also rolling out new features including QR codes.
